General index to real estate conveyances - grantee, 1867-1940 [microform].

This index provides access to deeds using the name of the purchaser of the property. Information in the index includes name of grantee (purchaser); name of grantor (seller); kind of instrument other than deed, if any; volume number and page number where deed is recorded; date of deed and date deed was recorded (month, day, and year); and a short statement providing description and location of the property being transferred. Usually, if more than one grantee or grantor was involved in a transaction, only the first grantee or grantor was listed in the index.

Bell, the 112th Kentucky county, was formed in 1867 from parts of Knox, Harlan, and Whitley Counties. It is named for Joshua F. Bell. Pineville is its county seat. Some records were damaged in a 1918 fire and a 1976 flood. The Bell County Clerk, whose duties are numerous and diverse, records and maintains various legal instruments and Fiscal Court records.
